Introduction
The Department of Korean Language and Literature trains talented human resources who aim for the world beyond regional culture and national development through education and research on Korean language and writing. With the awareness that professionals who create the future must pursue the universal common good based on communication and empathy skills, and have convergence skills and creativity, we provide necessary curriculums consisting of three areas: education and research on phonology, semantics, syntax, and history of the Korean language in Korean Language Studies; education and research on oral literature, Chinese literature, classic poetry, classic novels, and classic literature history in Classical Literature; and education and research on poetry, novels, criticism, contemporary literature history, and creative education and research in Modern Literature, with the aim of helping students understand and recognize the Korean language, Korean culture, and Korean identity

Department of Chinese Language and Literature Master's Program

Introduction
The Department of Chinese Language and Literature focuses on training talented human resources for our society as experts with not only Chinese language proficiency, but also knowledge of Chinese society and culture, and humanities with which to reflect on the future. The Chinese Language and Literature program includes Chinese language studies, Chinese literature, and Chinese interpretation and translation, and provides a wide range of research opportunities for students by developing educational methods using various media in accordance with the stream of the times while remaining faithful to the conventional text-centered teaching method.

Introduction
The Department of English Language and Literature at Chungbuk National University operates “English Studies,” “English Literature” and “English Communication” programs. In the field of English Studies, we examine all aspects of English, and help students understand the phonology, form, and structure of English in particular. In the field of English Literature, we widely research each genre, such as novels, plays, poetry, and criticism, by dividing them by period. English Communication is a program that combines practical programs that reflect the needs of educational users to promote a wide and diverse understanding of the use of English, as well as academic research programs required for master's researchers, such as translation theory, dramatization theory, and cultural research.

Introduction

Introduction
The Department of Philosophy operates two majors: Eastern Philosophy and Western Philosophy, and researches and educates on philosophy trends from ancient times to the present in the East, the West and Korea. The department aims not to simply convey philosophical knowledge, but to promote a correct understanding of humans and the world and form a rational sense of values by critically analyzing the ideas of various philosophers.

Introduction
The Department of History aims to understand the current situation and predict future directions by researching and criticizing the facts of the past in detail. Research programs include Korean History, Eastern History and Western History, and lectures and debates are provided in each field for each period, such as ancient history, medieval history, and modern history. Furthermore, it contributes to revitalizing local culture by researching Great Chinese cultural areas in various ways.

Department of Archeology and Art History Master’s Program /Doctoral Program

Introduction
Archeology and Art History are the study of the cultural heritage of mankind from prehistoric times to the present. It examines the characteristics of the culture left by the Korean people and people all over the world from everyday life to the field of art. Archeology is the discipline of restoring and interpreting ancient cultures on the basis of ruins and relics, traces of culture left by humans in the past. The department is researching and restoring the history and cultural heritage of mankind in historic times that cannot be revealed through literature records alone, not to mention prehistoric times without written records. Art History is a discipline focusing on art objects in historic times among the relics left by mankind. The department mainly researches architecture, sculpture, painting, and crafts, focusing on Korean art history. In addition, the department operates Oriental Art History including China and Japan, and Western Art History to promote an understanding of the world cultural heritage.

Introduction
Sociology is the basic discipline of social sciences that researches social phenomena scientifically. Introduction
The Department of Economics has devoted efforts to training talented human resources with problem-solving skills demanded in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the era of internationalization. At Chungbuk National University, a university located at the center of the administrative and metropolitan area, graduate students who will take the lead in future society are devoted to research and studies even at this moment. With the advancement of economics methodology, problem-solving competence to solve real-world problems is regarded as key. The Department of Economics aims to develop problem-solving skills by learning both theory and practice. To support this goal, our graduate school continues to develop curriculums to enhance an international sense and major education for solving problems in a creative manner. To maximize the synergy effect between majors, we are striving to provide convergent curriculums such as cross-listed programs with other universities and other majors. In recent years, people from research institutes or public institutions are increasingly enrolling in the graduate school. Department of Korean Education Master’s Program /Doctoral Program

Introduction
The Department of Korean Education runs a master's program and doctoral program in Korean education as a foreign language. First, the Korean education major aims to train competent Korean language teachers who will be in charge of Korean language education in schools, as well as to train professionals who will establish and implement systematic plans for Korean language policy and Korean language education. Currently, the Korean Education major is training creative Korean education experts with both theory and practice in the fields of curriculum education, Korean language studies, modern literature, and classical studies. On the other hand, Korean education as a foreign language aims to contribute to the internationalization/globalization of Korea and the Korean language by training academic leaders to research Korean language education as a foreign language in line with the growing international status of the Korean language. Currently, the majors are divided into three fields (Korean language teaching and learning, Korean language studies, and Korean culture) to train motivated experts in each field.

Department of History and Geography Education

Introduction
The History Education major in the Department of History and Geography Education aims to train experts in history education by cultivating theoretical and practical knowledge and ability in history textbooks and teaching methods as well as teaching in-depth knowledge and research methodology in various fields of history. In particular, to train students who have completed other majors as well as students who majored in history or history education in undergraduate programs as experts in history education, we focus on advanced major seminars and language skills. In addition, we expect that students read a wide range books in the field of humanities, including philosophy and literature. We strive to train outstanding experts in history education by focusing on enhancing the ability of students to explore history with autonomous discussions, literature research, and historical records studies, rather than injecting lectures. The Geography Education major aims to train experts in the field of geography education and geologists and conduct research. After graduation, students will work as experts in various fields, such as professors/lecturers at universities, government agencies and government-funded researchers, and regional experts, as well as social studies teachers in secondary school. To this end, knowledge is practically organized through discussions and seminars in the course of the curriculum. For example, geography education focuses on the analysis of textbooks and curriculums, and general geography focuses on researching Korea’s climate and topography and the current status of environmental problems and improvement measures. Human geography researches the urban development, economic and geographic status of each region, and urban regeneration in Korea. Regional geography researches the geographic characteristics, historical landscape and structural changes of each region. In addition, by conducting field surveys for each region, we promote practical understanding of the region and cultivate a view of the world and geographic imagination.

Department of Social Studies Education Master’s Program /Doctoral Program

Introduction
The Department of Social Studies Education was established in 1976 with the aim of training teachers in charge of social studies in secondary schools. The goal of social studies education is to let students systematically understand the knowledge and exploration methods in various fields of society necessary to lead social life, and acquire the skills of using knowledge for rational solutions to social problems, pioneering their future and contributing to the development of society, nation and humanity by cultivating the qualities and capabilities of a desirable democratic citizen. To achieve such educational goals in social studies, the department deals with comprehensive social science fields such as politics, economics, law, cultural anthropology, and ethical philosophy, and social studies pedagogy for efficient education. In addition, in order to cultivate personality, we hold social education festivals, outdoor academic seminars, and social surveys every year where seniors and juniors gather together in a symbol of the wisdom of “bears.”

Introduction
The Department of Ethics Education aims to train experts related to moral and ethics courses established in secondary schools and train experts in personality education and civic education who can contribute to solving ethical problems in modern society by advancing undergraduate curriculums. To achieve this goal, our department offers in-depth curriculums related to moral and ethical education, Eastern ethics, Korean ethics, Western ethics and applied ethics, political society ideals, unification education, personality education and civic education. Introduction
Child Welfare Studies is a discipline that systematically studies ways to understand and address various problems (childcare, child poverty, social protection of children, adolescents, and the disabled) that must be solved socially from the academic basis of child studies. Therefore, this department has curriculums in the field of child and family counseling that deal with a clinical approach to children and family problems; the field of child and family welfare, which studies various problems of children and adolescents with microscopic and macroscopic methods of social welfare through relations with families, society, and local communities; the field of social welfare policy; the field of welfare for the disabled; the field of early childhood education; and the field of child development, which studies the development of children and adolescents.
