FAQ

QWhat are the courses and credits I need to complete each program?

A 1. Related Regulations: Article 79-4 of Chungbuk National University Academic Regulations, Article 10 of Chungbuk National University Graduate School Enforcement Regulations
2. Beginning in 2020, first-year students must complete courses as follows.

< Master's Program > 24credits
Basic/major common courses (6 credits or more)
Advanced major courses (9 credits or more)
Minor course (6 credits or less)
Research projects (3 credits)

< Doctoral Program > 36credits
Basic/major common courses (6 credits or more)
Advanced major courses (18 credits or more)
Minor courses (6 credits or less)
Research projects (3 credits)

< Joint Courses > 57credits
Basic/major common courses (9 credits or more)
Advanced major courses (30 credits or more)
Minor courses (within 12 credits)
Research projects (3 credits)

* Students in the faculty of natural sciences, engineering, and medicine must complete 12 hours of laboratory safety education for an undergraduate program and more than 24 hours of laboratory safety education for a joint master’s and doctoral program.
QCan I acquire credits from other graduate schools in korea and abroad?

A 1. Related Regulations: Article 63-3 of Chungbuk National University Academic Regulations
2. With approval from the President of the university (in the case of special graduate schools and vocational graduate schools, the President of the relevant graduate school), graduate students can have credits acquired from other colleges (including graduate school) in korea and abroad acknowledged as follows: up to 9 credits in a master’s program; up to 12 credits in a doctoral program and up to 18 credits in a joint master’s and doctoral program (submit application for the acknowledgement of the credits acquired at other graduate schools)
QWhat is the period of leave for master's and doctoral programs?

A 1. Related Regulations: Article 75 -2 or 4 of Chungbuk National University Academic Regulations
2. The period of leave is calculated as a cumulative total. It cannot exceed two semesters, three semesters and four semesters, in a master’s program, doctoral program and joint master’s and doctoral program, respectively.
3. In accordance with the Military Service Act, the period of military service and recommended leave, and the period of leave before re-admission for readmitted students are not counted as the period of leave.
QWhat are the criteria for passing the eligibility test for dissertation submission?

A Students must score more than 70 out of 100 points on the comprehensive test and more than 60 points on the foreign language test.
QHow can I apply for readmission to graduate school?

A Chungbuk National University Graduate School provides opportunities for re-admission to students expelled from general, special, and professional graduate schools. In the case of admission screening within the student quota, students can be selected when there are available seats in each graduate school. Selection is carried out every semester (Jan and Jul of each year). QWhat are the eligibility criteria to apply for participation in BK21 projects?
A
Eligibility to apply for participation in the 4-stage BK21 project by project type are as follows.

1. Eligibility of the members of the Future Talent Training Project< Common to Education Research Group (Team) >
- Head of Education Research Group (Team): A person who has outstanding educational, research and administrative capabilities, and has three or more research achievements in the last 5 years (Jan 2015.~Dec 2019)
  ※ A person in charge of large-scale national R&D projects (SRC, ERC, MRC, NCRC, IBS, etc.) or a person in charge of national R&D projects with an annual amount of KRW 2 billion or more cannot serve as the head of the Education Research Team
- Participating professors: Full-time faculty belonging to the department
  
  Full-time faculty members belonging to other departments and who are adjunct to the department applying for the Education Research Group (team) are not allowed to participate.
  
  Participation of at least 70% of new faculty members rounded up
  * Full-time professors who were first appointed to universities in korea after the first semester of 2017 ※ Clinical professors in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and oriental medicine cannot exceed 50% of the number of participating foundation professors.
- Participating graduate students: Full-time graduate students belonging to the application unit led by the participating professor and who can concentrate on related research and classes for at least 40 hours a week
  
  A student who has not passed 2 years of a master's program, 4 years of a doctoral program and 6 years of a joint master's and doctoral program based on the registered semester
  ※ In the fields of medicine, dentistry, and oriental medicine, the number of students supervised by foundation professors must be equal to or greater than the ratio of foundation professors among participating professors (foundation professors and clinical professors).
- New research manpower: Postdoctoral students and contract professors must have a doctoral degree
2. Eligibility of members of the Innovative Talent Training Project
- Head of Education Research Group (Team): A person who has outstanding educational, research and administrative capabilities, and has three or more research achievements in the last 5 years (Jan 2015~Dec 2019)
  ※ A person in charge of large-scale national R&D projects (SRC, ERC, MRC, NCRC, IBS, etc.) or a person in charge of national R&D projects with an annual amount of KRW 2 billion or more cannot serve as the head of the Education Research Team
- Participating professors: Full-time faculty belonging to the department applying for participation, convergence major and interdisciplinary program (adjunct professors from the department applying for participation as full-time faculty members in other departments)
- Participating graduate students: Full-time graduate students belonging to the application unit led by the participating professor and who can concentrate on related research and classes for at least 40 hours a week
  
  A student who has not passed 2 years of a master's program, 4 years of a doctoral program and 6 years of a joint master's and doctoral program based on the registered semester.
